Cemetery - Cemetery Equipment

2 Styles

Frigid Fluid Co. manufactures two casket lowering device styles each with their own unique aesthetic. From the classic look of the Imperial style to the rugged workhorse Master style, Frigid produces a perfect fit for every cemetery operation.

2Imperial Style

3Master Style

2 Models

There are two models available. One is designed for a 2-man setup operation and the other is a collapsible, space saving design which makes a 1-man setup possible.

1Cemetery Model

2Funeral Director Model

Standard Casket Lowering Device

The Frigid Standard casket lowering device is being phased out. We are no longer accepting orders for this style. Parts are available in limited quantity while they last.

Standard Device with telescoping stand and 4-piece, single-faced drape. 1-piece drapes and double-faced drapes also available.

Imperial Casket Lowering Device

  • Weighs 110 lbs
  • 700 lb load capacity
The Frigid Imperial casket lowering device has become a favorite among customers because of its quality of construction and its assurance of performance. As a medium-grade device, the Imperial is capable of bearing loads up to 700 pounds. The Imperial features an adjustable braking system giving you added control over the lowering speed. Weighing 110 pounds plain, the Imperial is designed for a one or two-person setup.

The Imperial is available in two models: the Cemetery model or the Funeral Director model, and can be purchased with chrome-plated tubing or polished stainless steel tubing. The device telescopes from 62" x 25" to 94" x 38". Options such as casket placers can be added to help make the lowering process as effortless as possible.

Imperial Device plain. Our plain devices ship complete with straps and bronze crank handle. Imperial Device 3-n-1 combo - includes 4 placers with guide rods, 1 end roller, 1 end stop, drape and stand. Shown with telescoping stand and 4-piece, double-faced drape. 1-piece drapes and single-faced drapes also available.

Master Casket Lowering Device

  • Weighs 130 lbs
  • 900 lb load capacity
  • Lower fiberglass vaults
The Frigid Master casket lowering device is a high-grade lowering device specifically designed for everyday heavy-duty use. The load bearing components of the Master are twice the size of those found in the Standard and Imperial devices making it virtually maintenance free. With a 900 pound weight capacity, it is an ideal choice for lowering a casket and fiberglass vault combo (use of steel and concrete vaults is not recommended with any casket lowering device).

Weighing 130 pounds plain, the Master is the most durable lowering device on the market and is designed for a two-person setup.

The Master is available in two models: the Cemetery model or the Funeral Director model, and can be purchased with chrome-plated tubing or polished stainless steel tubing. The device telescopes from 62" x 25" to 94" x 38". Options such as casket placers can be added to help make the lowering process as effortless as possible.

Master Lowering Device plain. Our plain devices ship complete with straps and bronze crank handle. Side rails in picture shown with 4 ratchet gears for placer set. Typically a plain device ships without the gears unless otherwise specified. Master Lowering Device with placer set - includes 4 placers with guide rods, 1 end roller and 1 end stop. Master Device 3-n-1 combo - includes 4 placers with guide rods, 1 end roller, 1 end stop, drape and stand. Shown with telescoping stand and 4-piece, single-faced drape. 1-piece drapes and double-faced drapes also available.

Cemetery Model

The Cemetery model casket lowering device is our most popular model and is the model pictured in all of the images on this page. The two long side rails on a Cemetery model device telescope lengthwise but they do not fold or collapse. The rails are removable by the simple means of 4 threaded studs, but the intention of the design is that they stay attached at all times. For this reason a 2-man setup is recommended. This model is available in both styles: Imperial and Master.

Funeral Director Model

The Funeral Director model casket lowering device is essentially identical to the Cemetery model save for the fact that the long side rails are collapsible. The rails are designed to break apart and fold in half making it easier for 1 person to transport the device halves from gravesite to gravesite. The Funeral Director model also provides space savings when storage is necessary.

Casket Lowering Device Drapes

Device drapes are available in burgundy, blue and green Hi-Lustre drapery material. All device drapes come with velcro straps for attachment to stand tubing. Drapes are four pieces unless the one-piece wrap around feature is specified. Two styles are available:
Single-Faced
Designed for our non-telescoping device stand.
Double-Faced
Twice the thickness of Single-Faced drapes, the plush side of the material is visible both on the outside and the inside of the drape. Available for non-telescoping stands and telescoping stands. Our Double-Faced drapes for telescoping stands are equiped with an internal spring mechanism which allows them to be tapered to conform to the uneveness of the ground in a hillside setup.

Casket Lowering Device Stands

Diagrams:
Regular Device Stand Diagram
Telescoping Stand Diagram
Frigid lowering device stands are available in two models: Regular or Telescoping. The Regular model stands 14" high while the Telescoping model is fully adjustable. Designed to cope with a hillside setup, one end of the Telescoping stand adjusts from 10" - 18" while the other end adjusts from 14" - 26". The Regular model stands are available with polished aluminum corner post tubing or stainless steel tubing. The Telescoping model stands are available with nickel-plated corner post tubing or stainless steel tubing. All other tubing on our stands are made from polished aluminum. The Regular model weighs about 50 lbs. and the Telescoping model weighs about 95 lbs. Pictured is our Telescoping model stand. Notice how one end is taller than the other. The taller end would be situated on the low end of a slope (hill) in order to maintain a level surface for the lowering device and casket. The telescoping stand can be used on level ground as well.

Casket Lowering Device Straps

Nylon Straps

Frigid lowering device straps are 4" wide and are available in both green and black poly heat-sealed webbing in any length desired. Standard lengths are as follows:
  • 15' for 6 foot graves
  • 17.5' for 7 foot graves
  • 20' for 8 foot graves
  • 22.5' for 9 foot graves
  • 25' for 10 foot graves
  • 27.5' for 11 foot graves
  • 30' for 12 foot graves
  • Custom sizes > 30' (any length)
Our straps have a proven breaking strength of 2000 pounds each. For a small fee we can double-ply the center yard of each long strap for added strength if desired. Just ask for reinforced straps when you order. They can be purchased in pairs (2 long) or in sets (4 short, 2 long).

Safety Straps

Our safety straps are made of the same poly heat-sealed nylon webbing as our normal lowering device straps with rubber covered hooks on both ends. Overall length of hook and strap is 56". Strap alone measures 48". Available in pairs.

Safety Chains

Safety chains are for those who want absolutely no risk of any mishap when lowering a casket. Each of the two steel machine chains are rated at a 545 pound load capacity. Overall length of hook and chain is 68". Chain alone measures 54".

Cotton Hand Straps

Our hand-held straps are made of heavy-duty cotton webbing and are metal-tipped. They can be used for added security in combination with a lowering device, or alone if desired. Available (1.5" x 20'), (2" x 20') or (2" x 30')

The two longs straps support the casket over the lowering device. The four short straps hook onto the lowering device side rails and allow one to detach the longs straps once the casket is lowered into the grave. Our safety straps are made with rubber covered hooks to protect the rails of your lowering device. Safety chains eliminate any threat of a casket falling into the grave.

Placer Arm Set

Rubber covered rollers aid pallbearers in smoothly positioning the casket over the lowering device. The adjustable end stop ensures the casket will not roll off the device once positioned. Our placer arm set includes 4 placer arms with molded rubber rollers, 1 end roller with molded rubber roller, 1 end stop and 2 guide rods. Each of these items can also be purchased individually.

Caska-Rol Placer

The Caska-Rol Placer combines top-quality construction with safety and convenience. Its sturdy rubber rollers have been spaced precisely so that all standard caskets will roll smoothly without drag.

3 Simple Operating Steps:

1 Lay the three Caska-Rol bars across the side rails. For convenience the brake bar should be in front. The three bars can be placed at any interval along the device wherever they best suit your needs.

2 Place the casket on the front rollers with the brake off. Then push the casket along until it rests in the proper position on all three bars. Tighten the brake.

3 At the conclusion of the service, tighten the straps of the device and, while one end of the casket is raised, remove two of the bars. Repeat this procedure at the other end removing the last bar.

Aluminum Grave Frame

Our diamond-plate aluminum grave frame not only enhances the gravesite appearance, but also provides a sturdy base for the lowering device to sit on. Soggy turf is no longer a concern as the grave frame will help distribute the weight of the device and casket. Constructed of 5-bar pattern solid aluminum, the collapsible grave frame provides these outstanding advantages:
  • Lightweight aluminum construction
  • Safe, slip-proof surface
  • Enhancement of gravesite appearance
  • One-person setup in minutes
  • Once-in-a-lifetime purchase...sturdy, corrosion-proof material
  • Ideal for use when lowering fiberglass vaults
Outer dimensions: 100" x 64" x 2"
Inner dimensions: 94" x 40" x 2"
Folded dimensions: 29" x 64" x 8"
Weight: 75 lbs.

Grass Sets

Our grass sets are made of an indestructible, non-absorbent fibrous material that is extremely easy to keep clean. The following styles and sizes are available:

12' x 14' mound cover (in 2 pieces), two 3' x 8' pieces, two 3' x 9' pieces.

Stainless Steel Tent Print
Cemetery - Cemetery Equipment
The stainless steel frame and Sunbrella top will look great for years!
Frigid Fluid Co. has developed a superior stainless steel hillside tent (15' x 15'). The stainless steel frame combined with an authentic Sunbrella® top means our tent is not only durable, but also pleasing to the eye.

What make the stainless steel frame superior is that it will not oxidize over time (see image below). Its polished mill finish is also resistant to fingerprints and smudges - therefore you will not have to wipe down the tubing after setup.

The Frigid Hillside tent also features stainless steel parts. The chains and hitch pins are made of stainless steel, and the gear bronze couplings have stainless rivits. The parts, as well as the frame, will look new for years.

The tent top is made from authentic Sunbrella® material. The Sunbrella® top, as its name implies, resists fading from the harsh effects of the sun. The top is also easily maintained. It can be "hosed down" regularly to remove dirt or other debris. Sunbrella® recommends a new application of waterproofing each season (depending on how much it is used). If you have a preferred manufacturer (Steril, Norvell, etc.) for the tent top just let us know and we'll build your stainless steel frame to fit. Frigid Fluid Co. is cultivating over 100 years of expertise in the cemetery industry to provide the best tent available. The stainless steel frame and Sunbrella® top are sure to look great at you location for years!

The stainless steel frame and Sunbrella top will look great for years! The tent top wraps around each of the 4 corner posts. A bronze pin atop each corner post acts as a tie-down for the support ropes which are secured to stakes. Gear bronze couplings and stainless steel chains ensure a solid fit of the tent frame. The frame tubing attaches to the gear bronze couplings via stainless steel rivets and stainless steel hitch pins. Gear bronze couplings with stainless steel rivets ensure a solid fit of the tent frame. The center assembly (gear bronze couplings and 4 stainless arms) is built as a permanent fixture to ease setup. We sent samples of 3 types of tubing material (galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel) to an independent lab for testing to see how each would weather. The test that was conducted simulated 10 years of abuse from moisture, salt and other detrimental effects. Only the stainless steel tubing maintained an acceptable appearance.

Equipment Leasing Print
Cemetery - Cemetery Equipment
icon Calculate Tax Savings on Leased Equipment (1.46 MB) Updated for 2010

Now is the best time to consider leasing your equipment purchases.

1Added Credit Availability - Bank credit lines are not affected, so you retain your bank borrowing capacity for other needs.

2Conserves Working Capital - Leasing finances 100% of the equipment cost, leaving precious capital for other needs.

3Improves Cash Flow - Leasing allows you to pay for the equipment as income is earned from its use.

4Tax Deductible - In many cases, lease payments can be treated as a fully tax deductible expense. See linked file above.

5Quick and Easy - The whole lease process is faster, simpler, and often less costly than other financing alternatives.

Lease Options

True Lease
A true, or fair market value, lease has a purchase option that is equal to the equipment's fair market value. In other words, you will have the option to purchase the equipment at the end of the term for its then fair market value, return the equipment, or continue to lease.

One Dollar Purchase Option
This is our most popular lease to own plan. A one dollar purchase option plan, also known as a “dollar out” lease is exactly as it sounds. You will have the option to purchase the equipment at the end of the term for one dollar. This is a capital lease.

10% Purchase Option
Much like the $1.00 Purchase Option, this plan is also considered a capital lease. This plan, however, allows you to defer 10% of the cost till the end of the term.
Equipment leasing is available on all cemetery and mortuary equipment with a retail value of $1000.00 or greater. This applies to equipment only - no consumable items. Smaller pieces of equipment can be combined to equal $1000.00 or greater, but they must be placed on one order and shipped complete. Popular leased equipment includes casket lowering devices, casket carriages, body coolers, mortuary lifts, etc.

This program is operated by a professional leasing service. Any interested parties will place orders directly with said service. Please direct any inquiries or questions to:
